Job Summary

  • Greer Industries is seeking a full-time Payroll/Benefits Manager for its corporate accounting office located in Morgantown, WV.
  • Reporting directly to the Assistant CFO, this person will be a crucial member of the Greer management team. This person will be the company’s subject matter expert with payroll, benefits and HR system administration.
  • The Payroll/Benefits Manager will directly supervise 2 employees and will lend supervisory assistance to an additional 2 employees.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Oversees and processes payroll for hourly and salaried, employees; including reviewing and importing hours from time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements, e.g., garnishments, tax levies, and support orders, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
  • Implements and maintains payroll best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Responsible for compensation/payroll administration including compliance with FLSA, DOL, and IRS.
  • Produces scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and human resource requirements.

Benefits

  • Significantly contributes to the design, configuration and communication activities related to health insurance benefits.
  • Oversees the company’s wellness program including employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assists with updating/interpreting various employee handbooks and time off policies.
  • Responds to all unemployment claims and worker’s compensation claims in a timely manner.
  • Completes compliance testing related to the health insurance plan and 401k plan.
  • Ensures that online benefits enrollment site is accurate prior to open enrollment each year.
  • Coordinates and leads yearly open enrollment meetings with employees.

Greer Lime Company - Mine Manager

Position Summary:

  • Greer Industries is seeking a Mine Manager for the Greer Lime Company Plant located in Riverton, West Virginia. In addition to surface mining, underground mine development is scheduled to start in May 2022.
  • Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of the mining process, including developing and monitoring mine plans to minimize costs and meet quality and regulatory requirements.
  • The Mine Manager will be managing approximately 19 employees, including a Mine Supervisor and 18 people. This role provides excellent growth potential for the right candidate.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Regularly interfaces with Plant personnel to ensure customers’ needs are being met.
  • Responsible for maintaining production rates to best utilize equipment and labor while managing costs.
  • Responsible for managing/balancing plant-wide production needs.
  • Works with the Safety and Human Resources Manager to provide a safe workplace and promote effective employee relations.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Geological Science, or Civil Engineering, required from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineering Certification (P.E.) a plus.
  • Minimum of five to ten years of progressive experience in underground hard rock mining (engineering/management roles).
  • Assists in development of the workforce.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing cost effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, planning, monitoring capital expenditures and a record of accomplishment and increased scope of responsibility.

Clarksburg Asphalt - Asphalt Plant Operator

Job Description;

Operates the asphalt plant for the production of all types of hot mix asphalt. Within (2) years of employment, the asphalt plant operator must become state certified as an asphalt plant technician. Proficient reading, writing, oral, mathematical, and computer skills are required. Must be able to perform satisfactory work in a safe manner outlined by company policy, safety training, and federal/state safety regulations.

Minimum Shift Requirements;

M-F 6am to 4pm

Saturdays – when requested by customer or management.

Summary: Greer Industries, Inc. is seeking Underground miners with previous mining experience. The positions will perform a variety of duties in an underground mine setting. Positions include: Heavy Equipment Operators, Welders, Blasters, Plant Operators, Mechanics, Electricians, Laborers, etc.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Work safely and follow all federal and state laws and regulations as well as Company and Site Specific policies.

  • Conduct and document pre-operational safety inspections on assigned equipment.

Job description

Job Summary: The Shooter/Powderman assembles, places, and detonates charges of explosives at the face and bottom production areas in the mine. The job requires a complete safety inspection of the explosives truck, explosives storage area, and mine face and bottom blast sites. The recording of the equipment safety checklist on the explosives truck is required as well as an accurate count and recording of the explosives inventory daily. As with all jobs work must be performed in a safe manner as outlined by company policy, safety training, and federal/state safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspects the explosives truck for safe operation, explosives storage, and mine face and bottom areas for hazardous conditions and reports any such hazardous conditions to supervision.
  • Operates the shooting truck, tower truck, and performs the explosive loading and shooting process.
  • Inspects all connections and tests circuits with galvanometer prior to initiating the blast.
  • Performs required lock-out procedure prior to electrical hook-up.
  • Maintains proper housekeeping on the shooting truck, magazines, and shot area.
  • Disposes of all cartons and bags in a proper manner.
  • Assures proper storage and transportation of explosives.
  • Performs clean up duties.
  • Manual handling of materials and equipment.
  • Inspects all equipment related to the blasting process.
  • Maintains and records an accurate count of all explosive materials used.

The individual awarded this job will be responsible for safe, productive, and efficient shooting process associated with underground blasting.
